FAQs

Who can go rafting?

We have guided trips that are appropriate for ages six and up. We have lots of options for everyone whether you are a beginner or a seasoned rafter. We also offer raft rentals. Our phone staff can help you decide which trip is the best for your group. See our Essential Eligibility Criteria.

Do you provide the gear?

Yes! For day trips we provide your personal floatation device (PFD), your paddle, and depending on the weather can also offer wetsuits, splash jackets, and water booties. On the White Salmon and Clackamas rivers, we also provide helmets. Overnight trips include all camping gear.

Raft rentals include a PFD for each person, paddles or oars, oar frame, cooler, straps, and dry bags. For overnight rentals, additional gear includes a repair kit, port-a-potty, and a pump.

Do we still go rafting if it’s raining?

We go rafting rain or shine. We will provide you the gear to keep you warm if the weather conditions are less than ideal.

What is a Boaters Pass and how do I get one?

On the Lower Deschutes River, the Bureau of Land Management requires that every boater pays a boaters pass fee. On guided trips, the cost of the pass is included. When renting boats, you are required to purchase passes. You can find them online at Recreation.gov. For more information about this visit the Bureau of Land Management’s Lower Deschutes page, or call them at (541) 416-6700.

Which guided trip is best for me?

Our River Trips page can help you choose. If you are still not sure, call us and let us help!

Do I need anything else on the raft?

Bring a water bottle and sunscreen. Depending on weather it can be nice to have an extra layer.

Should I tip my guide?

You should never feel that a gratuity is automatically expected from you, but it is a great way to acknowledge excellent service. If you feel that your guide has gone above and beyond to provide you with a memorable and rewarding experience, then a tip is a nice way to say thank you.

How do I make a reservation?

The best way to make a reservation is to call us or fill out our online reservation form.

Is rafting dangerous?

Like every outdoor activity there is some risk involved, however our experienced and well trained river guides work to ensure that you have a fun and safe trip.

Can I bring my dog?

Unfortunately we cannot allow dogs on our guided trips. Because it gets very hot in Maupin and there is little shade, we recommend that you leave your dog at home.
