Essential Eligibility Criteria

Participants must be able to meet the following essential eligibility criteria on their own or with the help of a qualified companion. Each rafter must be able to:

Properly wear a type V coast guard approved Personal Flotation Device (PFD), min weight 50 lbs and maximum 56-inch girth.

Wear all protective gear when it’s required.

Be able to follow and retain instructions.

Keep balance in the raft and remain seated for the length of the trip. 

Actively engage in self-rescue in the event of a flipped boat. This includes keeping face up in the water with the aid of a lifejacket, making progress toward the shoreline or the raft, and identifying obstructions in the river and avoid them. Ability to receive rescue rope, paddle, or companion help back into the raft. 

To navigate independently or with a companion over rocky and uneven terrain.

To get into and out of the raft independently or with the assistance of a companion.

To be able to get down on the floor of the raft and accept a safety strap or line.
